The house

welcome to casa céu

Casa Céu is a typical house in the fishing town of Olhão - salty city, with white painted streets, full of curious details. Close to the fine sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, its architecture is punctuated by simple lines and specific details.

A modest oasis, a house full of history. Long days on the islands, long afternoons on the algarve’s terraces under the sky, enjoying the colourful sunset, with friends, young and old - this is what you can live at Casa Céu.

The cobbled streets with Arab origins and quaint neighbourhoods, the seafront where hundreds of seagulls greet the dawn and the sunset with strong pink and red tones. As you sail the slow ferry across the waters of Ria Formosa to the island villages, you will have time to breathe the salty air, stroll the walkways surrounded by lonely dunes, to share the beauty of the white sandy beaches and turquoise sea.

Try the fresh Algarve orange juice in the morning, indulge in the succulent clams caught by generations of families on the sandbanks at low tide and smell the sardines roasting on charcoal on a sunny and warm day.

about us

Hello, we are Lara and Dario — welcome to Casa Céu!

We decided to change our lives and move from Switzerland to Portugal for several reasons.

The sensual topicality of the climate, the fantastic beaches and the calm and salty life, the authenticity, the smell of sardines that slowly roast in the ember and fill the air of summer evenings, the easy smile of the Portuguese people, the general security, the social life and… that giant blue sky. We do not believe in the cult of “Saudade”, so what we suggest is that “the best thing is to enjoy the good things!”
